LEGO AR Festival Headpiece

Interactive Customisation Meets Playful Digital Storytelling

Commissioned by LEGO, this project was developed in collaboration with my AR start-up team to promote their new Botanical Collection on Instagram. We created an interactive AR flower crown that allowed users to customise their own digital headpiece by tapping on the floral wreath and selecting their favourite blooms from the LEGO flower range.

Once users made their selections and tapped save, the chosen flowers would animate and bloom across the crown in real time, creating a playful, personalised experience. The effect also remembered the user’s layout each time it was opened, offering the option to keep the same crown design or create a new one. This functionality encouraged repeated use and deeper engagement with LEGO’s product campaign.

We worked from concept to completion, including pitching, mockups, and multiple feedback rounds with LEGO’s art and creative directors. I led the creative direction of the project, overseeing the 3D design, visual style, and overall user experience. We worked with LEGO’s official 3D assets, retopologising and texturing each flower to ensure they were mobile-optimised and performed seamlessly in AR.

This was a technically complex project that required balancing beautiful design with performance limitations on mobile devices. The final result was an immersive AR effect that captured the joy and creativity of LEGO’s Botanical Collection.

This technology can also be adapted beyond social platforms for use in branded websites, apps and WebAR experiences. If you’re interested in developing something similar, I’d be happy to consult with you on how this can be applied to your own campaign or product launch.
